Student Composer Program
The Alpharetta City Band, a traditional community concert band, made up of amateur musicians has created the Student Composer Program to provide composition students the opportunity to have their original works tested and performed by a live band.
Students from Georgia Colleges/Universities are encouraged to submit a complete score along with an mp3 file to the Alpharetta City Band for consideration to be included in the intended public performance cycle.
Submissions will be reviewed by our Program committee for final selection. Upon notification, the winning student will submit all parts to the band. The student is encouraged to attend at least 2 rehearsals if possible to work through any issues or to identify areas that may require a rewrite. If the student is unable to attend, we will provide audio recordings from our rehearsals with notes from the conductor that may be helpful.
The Student is asked to provide a personal bio and a photo to be included in the program as well as on-line promotion of the debut of the piece. And of course, the student should plan to attend the performance.
